Boom Lifts are an aerial work platform with the greatest vertical and horizontal reach. Equipped with a hydraulic arm and basket-type working platform, these boom lifts provide a fast, easy, and safe way to lift workers and their materials to higher working heights not reachable by traditional ladders and scissor lifts.

There are two specific types of boom lifts: articulating and telescopic.

Articulating Booms having moveable sections or arms that bend. These bending sections allow workers to articulate or maneuver up-and-around objects and obstructions. Articulating booms are typically found on jobsites that are crowded, complex, or have limited accessiblity.

Alternatively, Telescopic Booms, or “stick booms” have a long straight arm, and what it lacks in maneuverability makes up for it in it’s much greater horizontal reach and higher weight capacities than it’s articulating counterpart. These boom lifts normally allow for platform heights of 40′ – 80′ (ft), but some manufacturers product models able to reach heights in excess of 130′-180′ (ft). Telescopic booms are typically used in open space jobsites with minimal obstructions.

Boom lifts are most often used for, but definitely not limited to:

  • Industrial
  • Mechanical
  • New construction
  • Window installation & cleaning
  • Roofing
  • Painting
  • Sign hanging
  • Tree trimming
  • & more

It is necessary for operators to educate themselves and read all equipment safety & operating manuals prior to operating. In addition, OSHA requires aerial equipment safety training and certification to operate aerial equipment. Aerial Work Platforms, Inc. provides OSHA Certified Safety Training for all aerial equipment and forklifts. Contact us today to inquire about setting up your next safety training.
